Campers will participate in all of our TCAs, but there will be a special focus for the week on the waterfront and water related activities. Whether it is time at the waterfront swimming, canoeing, fishing, riding the pontoon boat, jumping on the water trampoline or doing activities such as water balloon fights, the giant slip and slide or water rockets there should be something for every child. 4-H Camp Kidwell has hosted a resident camping program for almost 60 years and although the program has evolved over time, we very confident that we offer one of the best programs in the State of Michigan. Campers who attend resident camp spend the entire week learning new skills, making new friends and having a great time. Campers arrive on Sunday evening and leave on Friday afternoons. A staff members over see each cabin group of children with a maximum staff to camper ratio of 1 to 8. On either side you will find information regarding the activities and schedule we use during each week of camp. Below are the descriptions for each week of camp. Please don't be afraid to ask questions as we are more than willing to get you answers. Traditional Camp Activities (TCAs) Established in 1949, our programs are rich in tradition. Campers are able to participate in traditional camp activities (TCAs) that are listed to the right and much more! These activities are the backbone of our program and allow campers to experience fun and excitement while growing as individuals. The main activities of each week of camp are the TCAs, but they may be modified to fit the particular theme for the week. Sessions and Daily Schedule Our schedule allows campers to be involved in as many activities as possible while providing plenty of rest and relaxation. Our TCAs are paired with other daily activities such as meal times, rest time, clean-up time, and campfire to promote team work and cooperation. Each camper is assigned to four, 1-hour, small-group sessions based upon their ranking of the TCAs. Larger whole camp activities are also offered each day. These whole camp activities may include sports, educational programming, free-time and theme specific programs or activities. Each day ends with a campfire, which allows the entire camp community to sing together. Focus Areas July 6-11 and July 27-August 1 Focus areas allow children to spend extra time in their favorite TCA. Campers usually spend one hour in each of the 4 sessions of the TCAs they are assigned, but choosing a focus area allows campers to spend at least an extra hour in their favorite TCA. This option cost an additional $50 per week. There are three focus areas and they are Horse Sense (Horseback Riding), Making Waves (Waterfront) and High Adventure (Challenge Courses). If you are interested be sure to sign up for this great option when you register. Please note that focus areas are only available during the weeks of July 6-11 and July 27-August 1. |

Seaside Safari Resident Camp July 20 thru July 25 Ages: 8-12 $300 This session is designed to give inquisitive campers the opportunity to explore the world of water and enjoy fun activities the lake can provide. This is an awesome opportunity for our younger resident campers to enjoy camp with campers their own age. A group of friends will find cabin assignment by age great, as they can spend most of their time together. Nature sessions will give campers the opportunity to learn about the creepy, crawly animals that inhabit our lake. Other time will be spent focusing on swimming, canoing, the water trampoline, water rockets, as well as the TCAs. Focus areas are NOT available during this week.
Athletic Adventure Resident Camp July 13 thru July 18 Ages: 8-14 $300 Camp Kidwell will be transformed into a sports paradise for this week. Campers can participate in a wide variety of sports, including football, volleyball, baseball, softball, basketball, soccer, kickball, tetherball, Gau Gau, four-square, and much more. Designed for the camper who bounces the basketball in the house or has “accidentally” broken a window with a softball, every child who leaves Camp Kidwell after “Athletic Adventure Week” should finally be able to say they’ve had enough sports. Although we will offer our traditional sessions, we will focus on the sporting world in most of those sessions and give campers the opportunity to enjoy the games they love. Focus areas are NOT available during this week.
Pirate Adventures Resident Camp August 3 thru August 8 Ages: 8-14 $300 Ahoy Matey! Camp Kidwell is a ship wreck and you’re invited. Not only will there be a treasure chest full of time on the high sea, but if you like to dress up in pirate gear, you are more than welcome. The staff will sing pirate songs, look for pirate treasures, and maybe even sink a ship or two. Campers are encouraged to bring their favorite costume to play along! Focus areas are NOT available during this week.
The Great Expedition Resident Camp July 27 thru August 1 Ages: 10-16 $300 This session is designed for the camper who loves to explore and has an interest in outdoor survival. We will still spend lots of time doing our TCAs, but a lot of time will be spent exploring the nature trails, digging through rotting logs for slugs, identifying animals and plants or examining all of the amazing wildlife. Campers will also get the chance to learn how to build campfires, build natural shelters and live off of the land. Campers will have the chance to go on an overnight camping stay on Kidwell Island! Focus areas ARE available during this week.
